Renovation of an old 5,000 sqm industrial hall <\/h2>

The East Westphalian logistics company Skyline Express had purchased an old industrial hall in the immediate vicinity of its current location in Lage. The concrete floor was very worn from many years of use by a metalworking company and was also cracked in many places. Eichhorn Beschichtungstechnik from Herford was commissioned to renovate the hall, which they were able to do in two stages.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

The existing cracks were first filled with resin and additionally reinforced by inserting glass fiber mesh into the epoxy primer applied after shot blasting. A mineral self-leveling coating based on VELOSIT SC 253 was applied as the final coating. Due to the layer thicknesses in the range of 5\u201320 mm, a formulation with 0\u20132 mm sand was selected and mixed with Bremat S3\/17 and pumped.<\/p>\n

VELOSIT SC 253 can be mixed with different sand grades depending on the required layer thickness, allowing the processing layer thicknesses to be optimally adjusted between 3 mm and up to 50 mm. After just 6 hours, the surface can then be used again by forklift trucks. In this project, some traffic areas were marked with yellow epoxy. To do this, only the areas to be coated were sanded the following day and coated directly with a water-based epoxy. The remaining areas were later treated with the surface hardener VELOSIT FH 921. This step significantly improves the ease of cleaning cement-based surfaces, as the pores are sealed and made water-resistant at the same time.<\/p>\n

Volker Sim, owner of Skyline Express, was very impressed by the rapid pace of the renovation. The VELOSIT self-leveling compound was installed in the first section of 2,400 square meters in just six hours.
