The project was coordinated by Eichhorn Beschichtungstechnik from Herford, who also carried out all the coating work themselves. The magnesite screed was removed with a road milling machine and the substrate was prepared with subsequent shot blasting. The surface was then primed with an epoxy resin and completely sanded. The area was too large to be coated in one section, so the floor was laid in sections of 2,500 to 3,500 sqm per day. The leveling compound was applied using a Bremat S3.17 pump truck from Kotan Bau in Hanover, in which the VELOSIT SC 253 binder was mixed with washed 0 – 2 mm sand. VELOSIT SC 253 can be used to produce levelling floors from 3 – 50 mm with a grading curve optimized for the respective layer thickness. Between 50 and 80 tons of levelling compound per day were applied to the individual sections.

The compressive strength of the installed floor was already over 40 N/mm2 after one day. Although the surface could already be used without any technical restrictions in this condition, the client wanted a polished surface with subsequent sealing. This was realized by bme Schulz through fine sanding with subsequent sealing.
