The existing floor was milled out with a road milling machine and then shot blasted.
The surface was then pretreated with VELOSIT PR 303 2K epoxy primer and covered with 0.7 mm – 1.2 mm quartz sand. The existing breakouts around some machine foundations were prefilled with round gravel.
A mineral self-leveling coating based on VELOSIT SC 253 was applied as the final coating in layer thicknesses of 10–15 mm. The 60 tons were mixed and pumped using a Bremat S3/15 from Kotan Bau, Hanover.
VELOSIT SC 253 can be mixed with different sand grain sizes depending on the required layer thickness, allowing the processing layer thicknesses to be optimally adjusted between 3 mm and up to 50 mm. After just 6 hours, the surface can then be driven on again with forklift trucks.
The next day, the surface was lightly polished and impregnated with the silicate/siliconate surface finish VELOSIT FH 921. This step significantly improves the ease of cleaning cement-based surfaces, as the pores are sealed and made water-repellent at the same time.
The customer was very impressed by the rapid progress of the renovation. The VELOSIT self-leveling compound was installed in just 6 hours.
