The existing screed was milled out over a total area of 2,000 sqm and the surface was primed with an epoxy primer with complete sanding. A self-leveling compound based on VELOSIT SC 253 was then applied to the concrete floor in a single step at a thickness of between 6 and 50 mm. A total of 45 tons of self-leveling compound was installed in a few hours using a Bremat S3.17 pump truck. In order not to remove the color shades after pumping, the surface was not scarified. Only in areas with very high layer thickness was the surface briefly buffed to accelerate deaeration.
The material was also used on the exposed ramp areas in the outdoor area. In combination with an epoxy primer, VELOSIT self-leveling compounds are suitable for outdoor use.
After just one day, a compressive strength of approx. 40 MPa was achieved, so that the subsequent grinding work could begin. Technically, it is not necessary to sand or polish VELOSIT SC 253, as the surface is already very even and visually appealing in a medium gray tone as standard.
However, the client wanted a glossy surface with a slightly cloudy color scheme for this project, which was achieved very nicely with the subsequent finishing.
